Zion Estrada is an interdisciplinary artist and experimental filmmaker whose work moves between archival assemblage, sonic collage, and spatial storytelling. Her films employ layered sound, abstraction, and imagery to complicate linear histories and explore more-than-human forms of memory and presence. Her practice is informed by the palimpsest and Pauline Oliveros’s Deep Listening.
Her experimental film and sound works have been exhibited at The Scott House w/ Limbo Accra for a site-based sonic installation for Architecture is a Party (2022), the Chicago Architectural Biennale (2023), Rockaway Film Festival (2024), BAM’s Black Ante-Aesthetic Review (2024), MOCA’s Home:Land exhibition programming (2025), LACMA’s Aama Studio Threads of Legacy Film Salon (2026), Slam Dance Film Festival as part of Revolution | of being & infinity: evolving and liberatory languages of cinema (2026) curated by Matazi Weathers, Alfreda Cinema’s Open-Air film sessions (2026) and JCAL’s Under the Plantain Tree group show curated by Dr. Margarita Rosa (2026). In 2025 she was an independent curator for J. Yolande Daniels' first solo exhibition To A Future Space-Time at Art + Practice.
She was a selected exhibitor for the Ghetto Biennale in Jacmel, Haiti, and a participant in 2024 MIT’s Worlding Project. Estrada is the founder of Black Discourse, an oral-tradition studio and curatorial platform and Executive Director of the Black Reconstruction Collective.
