Sebastian Ore Blas (b. 2002, Lima, Peru) is a painter based in Brooklyn, NY . His work explores the tension between the physical and the metaphysical through allegorical imagery and compositional fragmentation. Drawing on magical realism literature, art history, and his own photographic archive of domestic scenes, he assembles artificial compositions from foreign elements and examines how they behave when recontextualized. Shifts in value, hue, and contrast mark the meeting of the abstract and the real, and set the allegorical against the literal, the flat against the rendered, and the present against the absent.
